Ways to approach Resident Evil Outbreak
Your routeWhat you needWhere to start
Original PlayStation 2A compatible console, a matching game disc and a memory card.A familiar offline session on original hardware.
PC / community onlineA suitable emulator, legally obtained game and BIOS files, and the community’s supported edition for online play.Read the PC guide, then the OBSRV setup instructions.

Set up one thing at a time.

  1. Decide whether you are playing File #1 or File #2. Friends need to agree on the same game and service.
  2. Make sure the game starts in your chosen environment before changing graphics, input or network settings.
  3. Learn movement, confirm, inventory and aiming. Check the input mapping for that environment.
  4. Find out where progress is saved and make a backup before importing another memory card.
  5. For co-op, follow the instructions for your particular service. Browser rooms and OBSRV are separate systems.

Which File should you start with?

File #1 introduces the original five main scenarios. File #2 adds five different main scenarios and changes parts of the gameplay. You can begin with either, but a group should choose together.

If you are exploring alone for the first time, the original Outbreak scenario is a useful place to learn how to move through a building, manage limited space and keep up with other survivors.

A guide alongside your game.

This site provides instructions and reference material. It does not host a playable game, game downloads, BIOS files or a replacement for a community’s support team.

The guides distinguish source review from hands-on testing. Check the cited project instructions whenever a setup step depends on a version, browser or service.
